Rocktron VG-08 8 Watt Portable Belt Clip Amplifier Review
So the thing itself is really really cool as soon as you get it out of the box. There are some minor problems, but they're only minor. Obviously, if you bought this it wasn't to use it to play a show or anything, and if you'd expect to do so you'd be disappointed. I don't know that it really is 8 watts, but it definitely amplifies the sound. It's very portable, very cool, and it even has it's built in gain. Granted, the gain isn't very powerful, but would you expect it to be on something like this? Now... The biggest problem - and it's not exactly a huge issue - is with the batteries. It takes one of those square/rectangle/whatever shaped batteries... pretty awesome because it's actually powered by it. It's like a 12 volt or 9 volt or somethin... Anyway, the big problem with this battery is that the chord it snaps onto isn't very long, and it's tough to get it in and out of the little slot provided to hold it in. That, and you have to make sure you don't shut the wire in the edge of the case when you're closing it. With all that said, this thing is not exactly cheap, but it's not too terribly expensive either. It's fun to mess around with and it's extremely portable. You can play it literally anywhere you want. So if you wanna dish out the 40, 50 bucks, go ahead, why not. Like I said, it's not great, but it's not terrible either. The best features of this are the portability and novelty aspects of it.
